Digital Speech Assessment in Huntington Disease
Speech assessments play a pivotal role in evaluating neurological disorders, providing crucial insights into cognitive function, motor control, and language processing abilities.
FRONTIERS IN NEUROLOGY: Digital assessment of speech in Huntington disease
In our recent paper, published in Frontiers in Neurology, we highlighted the use of BioDigit SpeechTM in collecting and analyzing speech data from patients with Huntington disease (HD). The results revealed significant differences in speech qualities such as pause, intelligibility, and accuracy between 3 groups (controls, prodromal HD and HD). Clinical status and disease severity were predicted using the speech features and machine learning models.
I am also thrilled to share with you another recent paper from our team on the use of BioDigit SpeechTM to detect and quantify cognitive decline in older adults. The paper highlights the potential of speech data for remote, frequent monitoring of cognitive health, and also as a sensitive digital tool for patient screening.
BioDigit Speech™ is currently being used in studies in ALS, myasthenia gravis, progressive supranuclear palsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, as well as multiple studies in dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
