Multiple system atrophy
Evaluating digital measures of physical activity, falls, gait, and speech in multiple system atrophy.
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a rare, progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement and autonomic functions, such as blood pressure and bladder control. Symptoms can include slowness, stiffness, impaired coordination, and balance difficulties. The pattern of symptoms varies between individuals.
Wearable measures in MSA clinical trials
PAMSys has been used to collect physical activity measures as a secondary endpoint in the ATH434 Phase II MSA trial. Our research also evaluates wearable measures of daily mobility and falls alongside clinical assessments.
Our research in MSA
Our MSA research focuses on evaluating complementary measures of physical activity, falls, gait, and speech in daily life.

Multimodal monitoring
Digital measures for MSA research
Wearable recordings and structured digital assessments provide complementary information about movement, speech, and daily function.

Digital measures for MSA research
We combine wearable recordings with structured digital assessments to study physical activity, falls, gait, and speech in MSA. Conference findings report associations between activity measures and clinical motor scores. Ongoing research examines how these measures change over time and perform across MSA presentations.
-
PAMSys and PAMSys Fall
Wearable sensors record physical activity, while PAMSys Fall identifies potential falls for review. PAMSys activity measures have been used as a secondary endpoint in a Phase II MSA trial.
-
LEGSys
Wearable sensors quantify walking parameters during structured gait assessments, including remotely supervised testing at home.
-
BioDigit Speech
Standardized speech tasks and automated analysis characterize features of speech affected by dysarthria.
